Scrumptious Saturday: Homemade Granola

Homemade granola is one of those super easy things to make, great for snack time and even breakfast.  Add some milk to make it into "cereal", or try it with fruit and yogurt for an even sweeter treat!  The recipe is very simple and granola stores well in an airtight container.

Granola

4 cups quick oats
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup chopped or slivered almonds
1/3 cup oil (I used olive oil)
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup agave nectar
1/3 cup brown sugar
 1 T. vanilla
1/3 cup water
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt (this is VERY important!)

Thoroughly mix everything in a bowl.  Heat oven to 300 degrees and line a jelly roll pan with a silipat liner.  Spread the granola onto the pan in an even layer and bake for 30 - 45 minutes (longer if you want it crispier).  Every 15 - 20 minutes, use a spatula to mix the granola, ensuring it bakes evenly.  Once done, let cool and store in an airtight container.  You can also add things like coconut, craisins, raisins, or any other kind of dried fruit!
