You have probably figured out by now that I love getting a good deal, especially on food. I will admit that I don't always take the time to plan and coupon and write lists to keep my shopping on track, but when I do, it's definitely worth it.
One of my biggest food-related challenges is eating well when I'm at work. Since I usually work roughly a 10 hour day, I look for snacks that will help me stay full during the day. I prefer not to bring leftovers for lunch every day as I find that doing so sometimes causes me to gain weight. So I try to stick to things that are a little healthier, or a bit different, and are all-around good for me. That being said, one of my recent trips to Wegmans (where you really can get things for cheap with coupons!) involved picking up some items for lunch and to snack on.
I think most everyone loves Wegmans, whether they choose to admit it out loud or not. One of my very favorite things about Wegmans is that they double coupons with a value of $.99 or less (you won't get any money back if the coupons total more than the cost of the item, so don't get too excited now). Tops apparently doubles coupons as well, but I have found that overall, Tops is more expensive than Wegmans so Weggies is my go-to coupon-doubling store!

Here is my recent Wegmans haul:
Four boxes of SlimFast snack bars
Six yogurts
Two Skinny Cow snacks
A Dole smoothie shaker
One box of Dole Fruit Squish'ems!
A box of GoGo Squeez snacks
One bottle of Tabasco sauce
(OK, so the Tabasco sauce isn't for my lunches, it's an ingredient I needed for cooking dinner...)
The retail value of all the above items came to $27.92 (not including tax). With coupons, my Shopper's Club card, and the added bonus that Wegmans doubled any coupon I had that was under $.99, I was able to get my total down to $10.13 (not including tax of $.13 on the candy). That's a savings of 63.7%, which is absolutely amazing here in Rochester and made me completely giddy!!
Tabasco sauce was priced at $1.69. I had a $.50/1 coupon that I printed from the manufacturer's website, (it should still be available here). So this bottle of hot sauce ended up costing me $.69 after coupons.
I had a B1G1 coupon for these little packs of Skinny Cow Dreamy Clusters (they are DIVINE!!) and they are priced at $.79 each. With my coupon I paid $.79 for both of them, making them less than $.40 a piece.

Dole Smoothie Shakers are regularly priced at $1.99. If you use your Wegmans Shoppers Club Card, the price is $1.79. There is still a $.75/1 that will double to $1.50 at Wegmans, making them $.29 each. You can clip the coupon from coupons.com by clicking here.
Yoplait yogurts are $.62 each, my $.40/Six coupon doubles to $.80 so my final total was $2.92 or about $.49 each. This coupon is also available on coupons.com by clicking here (it is frequently available).
GoGo Squeez 4-packs are $2.49, a $.75/1 coupon doubles to $1.50, making the final price $.99. Dole Fruit Squish'ems! are also $2.49 and a $1.00/1 coupon brings the price to $1.49.
The final piece to my Wegmans puzzle was 4 boxes of SlimFast snack bars. There was a coupon on RedPlum (no longer available) for $5.00 off the purchase of two SlimFast products. The snack bars are priced at $3.49 each, I bought 4 boxes and used two $5.00 off coupons. The price for four boxes came to $3.96 or $.99 each!
That is the breakdown of my Wegmans trip. Keep an eye on coupons.com for some of the same coupons that I used for this trip, coupons for yogurt and fruit/applesauce squeeze pouches are often available and can come in very handy.
Happy Couponing!!
