Anyone For Atkins??

I'm starting today with a week long low-carb diet plan.  It's my own version of the Atkins Induction diet, which is usually followed for two weeks at the start of the Atkins diet.  I'm very curious to see if this might give my weight loss another kickstart, so to speak.  You can find the overview of the induction diet plan here.

The Atkins website says that I can begin with the Induction phase of the Atkins diet, even though I only have about 11 pounds left to use.  The general guidelines say that if you have between 11 and 30 pounds to lose, you can start with the Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL) phase, which doesn't require you to restrict your carb intake quite as much as the Induction Phase does.  I'm planning on eating a lot of bacon, chicken, green beans and asparagus - several things I am quite fond of.  I can also eat black olives and cheese in moderation while in the Induction phase...eggs will continue to be a staple for my breakfast, although I think I will mix up the cooking method, scrambled and omelette get old after awhile.  I can also have deviled eggs (a favorite), so that's awesome  :)  As we speak, I have some eggs hard boiling in the egg cooker, which I plan on enjoying soon.  My Jennie-O turkey franks will also be on my menu plan, as they only have 1 carb per hot dog.  It's going to be really important for me to break the habit of eating a lot of carbs - so I'll be completely cutting out soda, regular sugar (such as in my coffee...AHH!!), pasta, snacky items...a lot of things I am used to eating.  This is going to be tough, but I know if I put my brain into it, I can be successful.  I'm still hoping to lose that last bit of weight before our trip to New York City the week of July Fourth - I know that it's possible if I really buckle down and focus.

Here We Go!!!
