Sunday Update: Weight Loss, the Public Market, and High Falls

Last week was still a bit rough...I'm still trying to get into the routine of working out, or maybe just getting my brain into the habit of working out.  It may sound weird, but I like to have a plan for when I go to the gym. My workout pal Nina and I have figured out that we like the Tuesday night Zumba instructor the best, so that is a for sure thing. I really like to do the incline treadmill, but I also like going on the bike sometimes. I dared Nina to get on the stairclimbers with me last week, but that was an epic fail as I couldn't even go 5 minutes!! Oh well, at least I got off and was laughing about it..so far we've figured that Monday nights will be reserved for the treadmill, the bikes, and whatever looks fun at the moment, and Tuesdays will be our Zumba nights.

I haven't really lost any weight recently, which obviously is a bit disheartening. But at least I haven't gained either...I'm at that weight that I plateaued at last time around so I'm trying to figure out how to get past that hump. I think I might start looking into some different recipes to make for dinners, maybe lower carbs or something. I don't really know yet, actually I don't think we eat unhealthily at all, but at the same time I've never really analyzed it. I'm kind of just talking out loud here, but I'm open to trying some different things to work along with my low calorie/exercise diet plan. I am on this green bean/broccoli kick right now actually...I got some good fresh veggies from the store and I throw them in a pot with a little water. Add some salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning and cook them for about 5 or 6 minutes...MMMM!!! Delicious :-) One of my favorite deserts lately has been Blue Bunny frozen yogurt topped with blackberries.  1/2 a cup of frozen yogurt only has 90 calories, and it's the perfect desert for a warm spring evening.

On another note, this weekend was pretty great.  The hubby and I went downtown to the public market on Saturday morning and scored some pretty good deals on fresh veggies and baked goods.  I have to say that Rochester's public market is a pretty fun experience, and it's definitely improved over the past few years.  You can get all kinds of things, not just fresh fruits and veggies, but clothes, kitchen items, toys, and jewelry too.  After shopping and enjoying a coupe beef fajitas and a peach smoothie, we continued on to High Falls so my personal photographer (also the love of my life) could take some updated photos of me.  Now I'm not obsessed with how I look, but I must say that the hubby took some pretty fabulous pictures of me (I had to post a few so you could see!!)

And that's how my weekend went... :-)  Happy Sunday!!

  1. It's a good thing I don't have to decide whether you or your hubby are the better photographer 'cause I couldn't. His pics of you are fantastic!

  3. I love the public market :) I need to go again soon! Plateaus are kind of the worst, haha. You might also be gaining muscle from working out, don't forget! The blackberries for topping on froyo sounds great (I always get them when at froyo places but don't do it at home). I'm also a big fan of the Healthy Choice frozen greek yogurt (the vanilla bean is the best)! I love that 2nd pic of you especially!

  5. Every time I leave the gym I'm like, do I look skinnier?? Lol. Oh, how we want instant gratification!! I'm trying to be patient, I'm thinking maybe I gave up too soon last time, so I will push through. Thanks girls :-)
