Sunday Update - I'm turning into a crafter?!?!?

This weekend I've been crafting up a storm in my house!! I'm hoping to open up an Etsy shop soon with some of the items that I've made, hopefully I can keep that going in my "spare time" (haha). Yesterday, I spent the better part of the day working on an upcycled denim apron. It actually came out really nice for not having a pattern - being that it was the first one I've made, it took forever to put together but it looks really adorable.  I will definitely be making more of these.  All I needed was a pair of old jeans, about 1 yard of fabric, thread and some patience - and presto!!  A totally adorable apron!!

As I write this, I'm actually in the middle of another craft project.  I have several empty wine bottles and some empty Starbucks cappuccino bottles laying around - today I bought some bright paints as well as a jar of chalkboard paint, and I'll be doing a little experiment with that.  I will be sure to post photos when I'm done so you can check it out!

I'm trying to come up with some different "upcycled" ideas for my Etsy shop, mostly because I think those types of projects are really fun.  I've seen some cool ideas for old t-shirts, old jeans, old wine bottles (obviously)..so I have a lot of brainstorming to do.  The nice thing about all this crafting is that it give my brain something else to think about other than work, going to the gym, and...well that's about all I really do, so something else to think about other than that.  Here's to more craft projects!!

Happy Sunday!!

  1. If you plan on doing a lot of projects with ruffles, buying a ruffler foot for your sewing machine would be a good investment. They're not cheap, but pay for themselves in the time saved. I'd be glad to lend you mine and show you how it works if you'd like to try it. You know where to find me!
