Good Afternoon BlogLand!!
What a gorgeous Spring day it is - a welcome change for dreary Rochester....
Last Sundays Craft Project:
I have been contemplating purchasing a camera bag/purse for a while now. I really wanted something from Jo Totes, but unfortunately, that's a bit out of my price range at the moment. Since we will be going to NYC this summer, I really wanted something a little nicer than my hum-drum regular camera bag, and I needed something a little bigger to hold more than just the camera itself. (Ok, ok, I wanted something more fashionable too!!)
And so began my hunt to create the perfect camera bag! I started out by realizing that I still had a gift card to Kohls that my mom gave me for Christmas, so I went to Kohls first to see if I could find a purse that would lend itself to being a camera bag. Lo and behold, I found this gem:
which is just perfect. It looks awesome and it has both handles and a cross-body strap (which was one thing I really wanted). I ended up spending $23 on the purse, after the sale price and gift card were applied. A little pricier than I had originally been thinking, but nonetheless, still rather inexpensive for a large purse.
Then onto Joanns, where I purchased 1/2" thick foam, fabric, velcro, and some other notions. I did purchase extra foam (I might make more of the inserts in the future) and a little extra fabric in case of any mess ups. The total was around $35, but about $10 of that was for extra foam for future projects.
A huge "thank you, thank you!" to Ashley at Make It & Love It for this fabulous padded camera bag tutorial.. the insert itself is pretty basic and has two movable dividers, which attach with velcro:
All in all, for this bag itself, I spent around $48 - about half the price that I would have spent to buy a camera bag online. I'm a very happy girl!!
